Aluminum hydroxide is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula Al(OH)3, which is the hydroxide of aluminum. Aluminum hydroxide can react with both acid to form salt and water, and with strong base to form salt and water, so it is an amphoteric hydroxide. It is also called aluminic acid (H3AlO3) because of its acidity. But it actually reacts with alkali to produce tetrahydroxyaluminate ([Al(OH)4]-).
